Too many words
Better than average but not an exciting read. Much is predictable. First 150 or so pages are background with too many characters. Too many assumptions on what the reader already knows. Lots of place names without context. European cologne like 1950s foreign films. Over-acted. Central story line is the strongest . Covered an overlooked time and place in WW2. Tragedy anticipated and fulfilled. Put me on the trail of books about former Nazis living all over. All book stories have to be compared with everyone's real life stories. Everyone has growth, hope, struggle, tragedy, regrets and then, old age... the greatest savage. I didn't like the hero much. Seemed to me a man that got more help, and opportunities, than he deserved . Book overall a B+.

Simple introduction
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich The introductions provide background and warning. The Gnostic books provide a look at an altogether different version of Christianity. It's hard to figure out some of the Gnostic writing. Anyone can understand enough of what the Gnostics are saying to see a bit of their world. It is a first century world at war. Conditions were terrible. Confusion and conflict. These writers and their version of the earliest Christianity lost everything. The winners erased or re-wrote their vision.

Boundless Harry
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Bright, crisp writing as usual. Main story lines a bit off for me as I usually don't enjoy reading about the drugged and down-and-out. But these were strong stories with complexities. I would prefer Harry to age more fully. He seems a bit too impervious to damage and recovers almost instantly. At his age he should be more of the mind and less of a jock.
