The fencing is truly flexible

The Peco fencing is good to scale so quite realistic and can easily follow a 3rd radius curve if required. The fencing plastic is really bendy which is much better than the brittle type. This allowed my very slightly inaccurate post holes to stretch into the fencing posts. The fence vertical posts that are on a separate sprue press onto the fence without the need for adhesive. Finally, Peco provide a good amount of fencing for the money.

A joy to build and looks good too.

The Metcalfe kit is quite easy to build with very little cutting required. The completed station looks very realistic and feels very solid with no flimsyness. Metcalfe's window detail that gives a 3D effect. The building instruction sheets are particularly worthy of praise.

Concise Insect Guide (Concise Guides) by Bloomsbury

Brilliant little insect book

A small book (10cm x 13cm) that easily fits in a pocket. The illustrations are excellent with all the necessary facts about each insect (size, habitat, what it eats). Within the plastic cover there is a pull out page for comparison between similar species. I thought this is a thoughtful and interesting addition that allows the user to quickly identify a particular dragonfly for example. As a novice 'insect spotter' I would recommend this book.
