Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse disappointing

This mouse feels really good, and the right and left click are sweet and tight. BUT...the scroll wheel is not smooth and I was not able to find a way to set the side buttons to do anything. I downloaded everything Logitech had on the internet, but their software is USELESS. I really needed the functionality of the side buttons for use in AutoCAD, so I had to go back to my limping, obsolete Microsoft Mouse.
