Great DCC ready N scale SD40
This is the SD40 that Kato would have made back in the early 1990s had it known about DCC. Unfortunately they did not remake all the older models of SD40s when this one was released. Only UP and Santa Fe were included. I have five SD40s for Pennsy and they needed to have DCC. So it has become necessary to locate modified SD40s or buy these newer models, then swap body shells with them. And that is what I used this model for. It runs great and easily accepts the Digitrax decoder made for it.

perfect replacement for trunk lid letters
It is the original OEM replacement for the trunk lid letters. I needed just one letter to replace the one that had fallen off but I can make use of the others should they go missing.

Direct Replacement for broken car.
It was the exact replacement for the one that fell onto the basement floor. It had to have the same exact numbers. The car that fell suffered broken foot stirrups on the corners, and pieces of one of the stirrups could not be located. So the decision was made to seek out a replacement. So this car was the chosen candidate.
