Canon A590IS - lots of camera for not much money
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich For an inexpensive digital camera this has more facilities than anyone could reasonably want - 4x zoom, video, various auto modes, aperture priority, shutter priority, manual, and an idiots mode for people who can't be trusted with buttons. It even has a preset for taking pictures in an aquarium! It takes cheap SD cards (£6 for 4Gb), and rechargeable AA bateries rather than proprietary ones which need their own charger. It has very good image stabilisation (that's what the IS stands for), and an optical viewfinder as well as the little screen which, like all of its kind, can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. Oh, and the picture quality is excellent.
The only downsides are that it's a bit chunky - you'd need quite a sturdy shirt pocket to slip it into - and the case is more plasticky than my old solid metal Powershot S40, although it's a lot lighter.
Overall a terrific camera for £90.

A great cheap upgrade
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich If you have an 8 - 9 year old PC with an Intel LGA775 motherboard and single or dual core processor, this is a very good way to improve its performance for about £15 rather than buying a new PC. It may not be quite as fast as a new quad core, but it still gives a Windows Experience processor score of 7.1 which is fine for everyday use, and you don't have to go through the cost and hassle of breaking in a new machine and transferring all your data.
Just remember to clean off the old thermal compound from the cooler and apply some new. There's also a small chance you might break a cooler clip when you remove or replace it, but they cost pennies to replace.
