Mickey Sings Mike Soothes My Troubled Spirit
Produced by Christian Nesmith (who plays most of the instruments), the album is a real family project. The love, care, respect, and friendship that went into the delightful re-imaginings of these songs is readily apparent. There are some surprising arrangements - and, they work beautifully. Thank you, guys. It's been a rough couple of years. Getting to see Mike, Mickey, and Christian in concert then picking up this record a few days later was a real comfort. Pure, nice, and honest: it's what I need right now.

For Fans, Not Tourists
The last recorded Turtles album, produced by Ray Davies of The Kinks, has a few tracks that existing fans might like. The approach was different in that every member of the band got to write and sing (so, you may not recognize some vocalists). I detected a flourish here and there that sounded like The Kinks (for obvious reasons). I can't see this as "starter" album for the uninitiated - unless you are just looking for something 60s. I like the album well enough and let it play all the way through while I'm driving, but there really are no standout tracks.
