Keep your memories!
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This was a fantastic cult programme in the seventies - exciting, adventurous.. the sort of stuff you'd wait all week to see the next episode - classic and brilliant TV! Watching it again now has, somewhat spoiled it, the acting is , well, not quite as good as I remembered, the stories are slow and a bit dull and the "knowing glances" between characters are so lengthy as to give the viewer time to go and make a coffee. I admit, I'm not far into the series.. does it get better I wonder? Probably not - certainly learned my lesson.. keep your memories of good programmes as sometimes they may well disappoint you going back to the source material!

My first touch screen
I bought the Nokia 5800 as a replacement for my phone, sat nav and MP3 player. The phone may be quite chunky (compared to an Iphone) but the speakers are really loud (I was finding that I was missing calls on the last phone because I didn't hear them!). The idea of Maps for life is great whilst the range of facilities on the phone (and connectivity) is impressive. The Nokia switch function allowed me to instantly transfer all my contacts and messages; the apps included Skype (which chooses where to gain network access so you can enter via a home wifi set up); much better games (although the writing is tiny even on Patience); apps available on the nokia store include a nifty Googlesynch that allows a Google calendar and phone calendar to be synched whilst the pictures aren't that bad.. certainly better for snaps in good sunlight though (although it does have a built in flash).
The sat nav function (which seems to be an extra) would be better if it had full postcode search.. in fact the maps only seem to be able to find a street (or Point of interest if its already in the memory)- strangely the OVi online maps doesn't provide this functionality either
The size of the buttons does mean that the stylus comes into play on a regular basis but the handwriting recognition is fair for quick notes - its just a pity that the notes don't seem available for direct transfer to a PC.
There's a great deal packed into this little box. and it works as a phone as well!!

The Trans formation album
This album was made at a point where Young was fascinated by the communication devices needed to support his child - hence a very different sound to the usual west coast laid back groove. As always the track list seems to have been culled from a wide chronological period so there are some disparities like "little thing called love" and "hold onto your love" that could happily sit on the country-fied sounds of Harvest or Harvest Moon. Its really the deep vocader laden tracks that either shine or disappoint, depending on your view! For me "Sample and hold" is a classic (although Neil cannily releases it again on the Lucky 13 compilation). Whats more, the final track "Like an inca" really rocked live.. not quite as hard on the album but certainly an indication to the direction that Neil's career would once more veer.
