Most of the local hardware stores and people who do a lot of snow shovelling use this type of shovel (as opposed to what is normally sold as a "snow shovel"). It's not that great for ice, but it does a super job with most snow. This one has an alloy scoop and synthetic handle. The thing really stands up to the weather (I leave mine outdoors). This is the second one of these I bought (see title, although neighbour DID return the one I lent him).

I've been trying to find a decent arctic parka for a reasonable price for some time. The best bets are the Canadian Forces cold weather parkas, but they look like milsurp. First off, you want a parka that you can layer (IOW) you have multiple layers of clothing: thermal undershirt, shirt, sweater/fleece layer, and then the coat. Even better if the coat can be layered. That means the coat should be a little loose. This isn't. I said this is good quality. It is for the price I paid for it, but the zips are plastic.Good point: this jacket has buttons. You can button up if the zips bust. Third point, I wouldn't get down if you will wear this anywhere it will be wet. Down will be like wearing a sponge if it gets wet (other choice: spend a load on something that is water proof with down). I would say this was a super parka if the (1) zip were good quality, (2) it was a bit looser, and (3) it had something like a primaloft layer. (as for loose fit--this does fit "true to size", but I would wnt more room to layer personally) One final note, while "designed in Canada", this product is made in China.
