Why I love this book.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich In the mid-80's I knew that my values and beliefs ran counter to the fundamental baptist upbringing of my church. It just wasn't right for me.
At 12, I left the church and decided to investigate other spiritual avenues. A hardback copy in black binding of this book was the first book on wicca and witchcraft that I've read. I was 14 when I came across it.
At the time, it was not considered a legitimate religion or spiritual way, and in fact, was disallowed in the high school I attended. At 17, the book was discovered in my desk and the assistant principle made it very difficult for me me stay in school. I dropped out because of administrative bullying, and then joined the military, only to find that in 1989, wicca was not allowed there, either. Keep in mind that only heterosexuals were allowed in the military at the time. The military is different today. Had it been more open to diversity at the time, I would have had a flourishing military career. I'm just not one of yhose people who could ever live a lie.
My courage to be myself, that strength, came from this particular book, which gave some definition to what I already knew in my soul. I am a male witch. The power of affirmation may even be credited for saving me life when I did not know if I could face the world knowing I was facing scrutany for cominh out as gay and as wiccan, but by the time I was 19, everybody could see that not being able to be open in Louisiana in the early 90's was destroying my life. I was going to have to die, or face the world with honesty without regard for fear.
"The Magic Power of Witchcraft" made that possible.
Of worthy notation is the spelling of "magic" in the title. Modern magicians might return to the old world spelling of "magick."
There is a difference in today's world where spiritual exploration is not a shock. The internet may have helped.
Finally, this book taught me about astral travel, which is nothing like those "Insideous" movies. They are fun, though.

A great read.
Um...this book is hilarious af. Strangely, some of the conspiracies the characters think about in this fictional world have come to pass in the real world. If you read it, you'll see it.
