A CHOICE WHISTLER EXHIBITION
The book focuses on the works of a particular exhibition of Whistler's pictures, chosen by the artist. So, it is interesting to see what Whistler thought worthy of a public showing. Considering the prevailing Victorian addiction to storytelling, this was brave!

ESSENTIAL READING
Sadly, the people who should be reading this book will not do so: all the politicians and right-wing pundits who demonize members of the working class (DIVIDE AND CONQUER) for political gains. Owen argues succinctly and passionately to make his case. The Establishment is as corrupt as most sane people have always realised.

A USEFUL REFERENCE WORK
The book is a convenient size and format. The text section precedes the plates. Though the latter are only in black and white, each illustration is given a page to itself. The book was published over 50 years ago, so the prices are no longer relevant. To a watercolour enthusiast this is of little importance, as prices fluctuate.
