Sweet relaxing movie
Dated now but still worth watching for the wonderful Scottish scenery, the idiosyncratic characters and the American slapstick humour between the American actors. Haunting music by Marc Knoffler suits the movie perfectly.

Like a comfort blanket
I love Barnaby number 1. The stories are full of interesting characters and beautiful scenery - inside peoples homes - either quaint cottages or opulent mansions, and outside in the leafy countryside. You never guess the baddie as they’re invariably the least suspicious person. The director was criticised for only casting white stereotypical actors who acted in stereotypical English villages but I think that was the point. Stopped at season 13 after which the new Barnaby took over. Don’t like him or the subsequent productions.

Like a comforting warm blanket
Love the quirky English characters, plots and beautiful English country settings. I own all the old Barnaby series. Not interested in the new Barnaby.
