Great album for Rocky fans!
The Beat Street Band makes 14 cover versions of songs from the first 4 Rocky soundtracks. Their remakes of each song add a slight, updated twist to the originals. This is a really good album that is more than worth buying!
The album songs can be broke down into 4 categories: up-tempo & midtempo beats, lyrical remakes, and slow instrumentals. The beats are all inspiring. Especially motivational were Redemption, Going the Distance, and Gonna Fly Now. Reflections was cool.
As for the lyrical songs, I am glad they chose the under rated song ‘You Take My Heart Away’, and did a fine job with it. They also performed well on the deep songs ‘Burning Heart’ and ‘No Easy Way Out’. Though we all hear it a lot, Eye of the Tiger is not a bad song. I never was a fan of ‘Take You Back’, yet it is true to Rock’s character. It is understandable why it was added. I did not like that they chose 'Living in America' because such flash does not represent who Rocky really is, yet the CD is worth getting.
For the slow instrumentals, they made nice work of the sad but beautiful Alone in the Ring, and the happy meaningful song ‘Adrian’. The mixed emotion Philadelphia Morning was also a good choice. Rocky’s Reward fits each of these films well.
I am thankful to God that I bought this CD online. I have seen it on sites for reasonable/low prices. It is worth every cent! If you are a fan of the early Rocky movies, then you should purchase this album ASAP! Rock on!
