Yesterday & Today - Lennon Sisters (The) (CD 1994)
It's hard to rate a CD of a group like the Lennon Sisters. They represent a nostalgic time when the music was great, but the art of recording was not what it is today. I am assuming that the songs were taken directly from origninal recordings and not cleaned or fluffed. The quality of the CD was flat for some songs and okay for others. Can't say any of the songs were anywhere near as good as vinyl LPs.
I grew up with Lawrence Welk and the Lennon Sisters in the late 1950's. Actually had a crush on Janet--the youngest. We didn't have a TV and every Saturday night my family would go to a neighbor's house and there would be ten or twelve people watching the show. These sisters were incredibly comfortable on LIVE TV and were very telegenic. Their 'girl next door' personalities were very clearly not an act with their harmonies compellingly excellent.
It has always seemed odd to me why they never sang more popular or contemporary material for the pop record market. When you listen to them sing such songs as "Hit the road Jack" or Wah, Wah Tusi" or "Sincerely" they demonstrate their ability to sing at the "hit" level.
The music content of this CD was dissappointing. The Lennon Sisters have many songs that have energy and heart in them--just go to YouTube to hear/see them. Many of the songs on this CD, while enjoyable to listen to, seemed to be flat emotionally. It may be more the recording than the singers.
I recommend this CD for old fans of the Lennon Sisters. If someone is new to them, then I would take a pass on this and find someone who has their Souvenier or Anniversary CD.
Hopefully, someday they or the Welk Corp will release a set of DVDs with all their TV appearances.

Entertaining and Intelligent Adult comedy

Great record of what the culture was like in the late 50s.
It ain't perfect, but darn if it's not funny.
This movie is about PEOPLE, men vs women, compromise, being oneself and seeking Truth.
Millenials will NOT get this movie unless they are exceptional.
Gable would have been arrested for sexual assault and harassment today. Women loved him in the day.
Speaking of day.....She was awesome. Darn if she isn't the most consistant INTELLEGENT, self-assured, sexy, mannered, and dressed to the nines STAR ever. Maybe not oscar for drama, but an oscar for entertaining.
