The Battle of the Huertgen Forest
So far I've read six books about the Battle of Huertgen Forest: A Dark And Bloody Ground by Edward G. Miller, The Bloody Forest by Gerald Astor, Follow Me And Die by Cecil Currey, the Battle of Hurtgen Forest by Charles Whiting, Hell in Hurtgen Forest by R.S. Rush and The Battle of Huertgen Forest by Charles MacDonald. Out of the six I've read so far, Charle's MacDonald's book is my second favorite, with Cecil Currey's being the best I've read so far. Charles MacDonald's book has good understandable maps and is readable. Plus, Mr. Mac Donald was actually a participant in the battle. I like Mr. Currey's book better though because after reading three books on the subject including Mr. MacDonald's I finally was able to make sense of the battle and what went wrong.

THE Book to Read About the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest
I have read the this book as well as Charles MacDonald's "The Battle of Hurtgen Forest," Robert Rush's "Hell In Hurtgen Forest," Edward Miller's "A Dark And Bloody Ground," Charles Whiting's "The Battle of Hurtgen Forest," Gerald Astor's "The Bloody Forest" and "Road to Hurtgen Forest In Hell" by Paul Boesch. If you only read one book about this debacle I recommend "Follow Me and Die" by Cecil B. Currey. Of all of the books I've read about the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, this book provides a good mix of the larger strategic view of the battle mixed with first person accounts to illustrate the problems faced by individual units and soldiers. Mr. Currey's narrative made it easy to follow the battle as it unfolded and also explained what went wrong for the American forces in this battle and why.
