Simple, straightforward flip phone that does the job
The AT&T Pantech Breeze III is a simple, straightforward flip phone. If you don't need the features of a smart phone the Pantech has good reception, a large memory for phone numbers and good battery life. It has big, easy to read numbers and is quite inexpensive, which is why I bought one each for my son and my mother-in-law. I bought two used phones on eBay for parts (battery covers and charge cords), which had been lost. AT&T did not sell parts and it was a much better deal on eBay than through the manufacturer.

The Enhanced Vision Merlin Magnifier has been Life Changing
The Enhanced Vision Merlin HD Ultra MRVE22A 22" Video Magnifier by Samsung has made a practical and significant improvement in a family member's life. Their close focus vision has been in decline and had reached the point where they were no longer able to read any standard size type. "Large Print" books were not sufficiently large to be useful. Using the Merlin Magnifier they can now catch up on all the reading they had been missing. The unit is large and heavy. Plan on placing it with the expectation it will not be moved and where it will be comfortable to sit near for long periods of time. It has built in lighting so light need not be part of the location consideration. Once set up, the controls are simple and intuitive. Turn the unit on, adjust the degree of magnification the user needs and use the movable base to scroll across a page to read. If you, or someone you know, can make use of this, it will make a considerable difference. Hint: it's also useful for performing fine adjustments with you hands, such as a repair, or sewing. The original, new, cost of these units is quite high. The costs that many of them are available for on eBay, make for an excellent value.
