Genealogy reveals great stories
Impressive research, good but not great writing, excellent subject matter. Genealogy - which is st the core of this book - can be interesting, even compelling, enlightening, revealing, and, yes, even fun. I hope family descendants of both the white planters and the enslaved eorkers who lived along the Combe River on rice plantations find this book and devour its detailed family histories dug-up and revealed by the suthor an$ her researchers. The families on both sides can learn of their heritage, their lineage, their culture, their struggles, and their successes. It is what genealogy sn$ family history us all about. Every family has a story to tell.

Compelling story with excellent production values.
This is a well-done production that adds texture to a compelling historical story. Religious history is difficult to portray in movies without either undermining the religious nature of the events or bending historicity. This production walks the fine line between the two successfully.
