Inexpensive but works well.
This digital to analogue converter is something you either need or don't. If you want to convert an analogue signal to a digital signal then this is **NOT** the product you are looking for.
A little background explaining why I bought one:
I have an very good CD player from an old Hi-Fi that only has an optical "TOSLINK" digital output but unfortunately my newer Hi-Fi only has an analogue input by means of the "usual" RCA sockets. This little box converts the optical output from my CD player into analogue in a form that my newer Hi-Fi can use.
This little converter can accept either a digital input through a standard Toslink optical cable or a digital input through an electrical RCA cable. The little box converts this into the more common Left-and-Right analogue electrical signals at its RCA sockets.
For power, there is a 5V input socket to which my particular "package" came with a USB connection cable. It works well with a basic USB mains adapter plug.
There is a rather bright LED to indicate that the unit is working. The case is metal and it runs nice and cool.
If using the digital optical inputs, be sure to plug the Toslink cable plugs in properly otherwise you will get no output, or it will be intermittent.
In my package were a Toslink cable of adequate length and a USB cable to supply power. It did not come with any RCA cables.

Only recommended if really needed
This separation pad looks like the original but my experience with it was not good. No instructions provided but a service manual can be found online. Installation is not particularly difficult but is a little fiddly.
The big problem for me was that the metal edge of the replacement pad fell off and into the guts of the printer, causing jams when feeding paper from Tray 2. Took ,me a day to dismantle the printer sufficiently to remove the metal part and the service manual was of no help with final steps. So, it was all a waste of my money and a waste of a lot of time.
In the end I found a simpler and cheaper answer was to scrub the original (1995 vintage) separation pad with a soft brush and some soapy water. Works just as good as the new replacement. Th same applies to the roller for the MP tray as well as the tray 2 roller.

Cheap as chips but works perfectly
This cheap ST-Link V2 device does indeed work as an ST-Link V2 device. It is arguably better than the "real" ST Link V2 device because it is more compact and doesn't waste my time with multiple cables and an out-dated silly 20-pin interface.
However, I must warn you, dear reader, that the 10-pin socket has a NON-STANDARD pinout. Power, ground and signals are in the wrong place. Also, unlike a real ST-Link device this one has 3.3V and 5.0V power output so can power a small target device. And, unlike a real ST-Link device this does not have a "VDD_Target" sensing pin.
But despite this, it works.
On first use with the ST-Link Utility (downloaded from STM) a message told me that the firmware could be updated. So I updated the firmware successfully.
I then used ST-Link Utility with this device to download my own software from mbed into three different STM32 devices by the SWD method. I also debugged and downloaded firmware directly from within Keil. What more could I ask for?
If you have a choice of colours, be sure to pick one that contrasts strongly with the white silk-screened information printed on the USB stick's cover or you will find the pinout details hard to read. Mine is a metallic copper colour and it is hard to read the tiny writing.
As you might expect, there's no manual or instructions. Visit the ST Microelecrtonics web site and read what the "real" ST-Link V2 device does and you cannot go wrong.
