Cisco SG300-10PP-K9-NA 10 Port Gigabit PoE+ Managed Switch 2 Shared SFP Layer 3
    25. Jun 2016
One of my fave managed switches.
The Cisco SG300 Series Managed PoE Switch has everything what a small but busy network needs. Be it a group of PoE Cameras, a few power hungry automation interfaces, or even a full set of HP MSM Access Points. And if you happen to have a mixture of all of the above, this unit is perfect for the job. Usual Cisco interface, easy to handle, easy to upgrade or even downgrade. Easy to switch between the active and inactive images, so if there is a problem which needs a roll back for the one before version, it takes 2 clicks and a reboot, and it is done. The SPF interface is handy, but the gigabit ports do the job too, if the SPF option is not available. Overall, it is a good value for a small but complex network.
    Crestron RMC3 control processor(Last One)
    25. Jun 2016
    The littbe big automation processor
Crestron is used to be famous about being unreachable for the average home owner. Used to be. This little powerhouse will surprise everybody (especially if you find one here on eBay) with its affordability. It is a fully functional 3 series processor with all of its perks. And it has a Cresnet port! Cresnet is still the most commonly used networking option, especially for older Crestron equipment, which is abundant here on eBay. 2 Relays, 2 IR outputs plus a fully built RS-232422/485 port. And all the software goodies. SNMP, Smart Graphics, BACNET, System Monitor. The unit is Powered by PoE, therefore a power inserter or a PoE network switch is required to use it. The Cresnet network adapter has no power either. A dedicated 24V DC power supply is needed to connect Cresnet based dimmers, keypads, thermostats, etc. Ideal for learning the ins and outs of Crestron home automation.

Vivotek FD8369A-V 2MP Outdoor Vandal-Resistant Network Dome Camera
    09. Dez 2016
Good outdoor cam, with a catch
Vivotek makes really good stuff. This full HD dome camera is not exception. Crystal clear 1080p picture, 4 separately configurable video streams. (No Audio, but there are other models if audio is requires) However there are a few things, to improve. The internal IR LED source, sucks. It shines into the picture from the inner surface of the dome cover. I recommend turning them off. Thanks to Vivotek, it is very easy to turn the IR LEDS off, by using the built in setup menu. For most applications, where I use a wide angle lens camera like this one, I always use external IR source for the perfect night vision. An odd behaviour, which most of you readers will probably never experience unless you are using it in a complex network environment. For some reason, if I use the camera with a CISCO RV325 Router, and have multiple subnets with VLANs enabled, the camera is completely unreachable from the other subnets, only can be seen on its own subnet. This is not a unique bug, I have a few other devices which behave this way. (With a different router, they are visible from the other subnets. Cisco is very strict in what it lets pass through the inter subnet routing, I guess.)
