Choosing a Track Underlay
You can lay your track directly on benchwork, on foam board, one cork underlay or Woodland scenics Road Bed. Road Bed, however, provides the best acoustic barrier between the track and the substrate. Without it, your trains will sound like they are running across a guitar top. With it, you will only hear the wheels and that is how it should be. All that reverberation without it is very unrealistic and makes your model train noisey.

Excellent Paint
Tamiya acrylic paint is excellent. The pigments are ground very fine. It mixes perfectly with alcohol for an excellent airbrush paint or apply it to your models any way you like.
