Sleuthing the Alamo...an interesting historical read
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich If you buy this book to find out about the battle of the Alamo you'll be disappointed. If you buy the book to have a historian argue that some of the facts that children are taught about the Alamo are wrong then you will enjoy the book.
Crisp argues that the Alamo and the mythology and heritage of what we learn in school is slanted. David Crockett is portrayed in paintings (and in movies) as an individual who fought until the bitter end yet diaries from a Mexican soldier at the battle paints a different story. He writes a great deal about the diaries (the de la Pena diaries) and the issue of whether they are authentic or not. Crisp also writes about people who are angered at even the thought of their "beliefs" being challenged about the Battle and how even racism creeps its way into the famous conflict.
It's a good read and an interesting read that will make you think about how history is taught and written.

Andy Griffith Show fans - this is a MUST have for your Andy Griffith library
I've been a HUGE Andy Griffith fan since I was a kid (especially the first 5 seasons when Don Knotts was on the show). This definitive guide is a MUST have. It details EVERY episode (including after the 5th season when changes in the cast occurred) and gives great insight into the various episodes (including episode # and date it aired).
The details are excellent in this book as small details about various episodes are noted as well as a lot of additional information about the show and the actors, actresses and even the characters who had small roles in the series.
There are several great books on the show and this is a must have to add to your knowledge of what I consider still to be one of the best TV family comedies of all time.

The quality is outstanding and the price was excellent.
