Dust Separator does separate
The separator does seem to separate fines particles from the air stream fairly well. Larger jetsam tend to stay suspended in the cyclone so the vacuum is paused briefly to allow these to drop into the chamber. It was not a major project to adapt this to a plastic surplus hardware shipping keg and worth the effort.

Kitchen Aid Pouring Shield
Pros - this product does exactly as described. Very easy to clean.
Con - It doesn't snap on so that it is secure and doesn't move. One has to have his hand on the product in order that it doesn't slip while pouring in the ingredient. But, it is well worth it when pouring in flour that wants to fly out of the bowl.
