A wonderful gift to give a baby!
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich I stumbled onto an early version of this book in 1986, when my son was 18 months old. We started showing him words just to see if the program worked. Did it ever! He couldn't get enough. We wound up taking the 40-hour course The Institutes offers for parents. Our first son was reading the newspaper by four years old and was ahead in his schoolwork through high school. He got a four-year scholarship to college. It was fun and really gave us something interesting and valuable to do with him. When he was six, we adopted a five-year-old with serious development problems from Romania. He also learned to read and learned English using this book. He also is an excellent reader. Both of our boys have always loved to read and loved learning and I'm sure giving them a way to learn when they are most capable of learning quickly made a difference. I give this book for baby shower gifts. Ellen Pulley

Egoscue really works

There was a problem with the girl's left leg swing-through pattern that was interfering with her walking progress. They had tried different things for 10 years and doctors were thinking surgery was indicated. The mom wasn't convinced. She found this book, put her daughter on the Egoscue program and the leg settled into its proper function.
I am a journalist who had carpal tunnel for several years. Wearing hand braces and taking Vitamin B6 kept me out of surgery until I found this book. I identified myself as a type1 piggybacked on a type2. By doing one set of exercises in the AM and the other at night, I was able to work out of carpal tunnel in three months. The Egoscue therapist told me this condition was a shoulder issue and widening the carpal tunnel would not resolve the shoulder issue. She was correct.
A friend who crocheted a lot had the surgery three times and it didn't help. My mother had the surgery and it didn't help
Another friend with back issues only got worse in the course of three surgeries that included putting rods in her back.
My husband does the exercises and doesn't have nighttime leg shake. Both of my son's have benefitted from the ecises.
The body can heal itself given the chance to strengthen the muscles that have abandoned their function because of our dysfunctional modern life style.
I discovered that I had other posture issues in addition to those that caused carpal tunnel and am working successfully on them.
Egoscue takes time and money that most of us don't want to devote to exercises, but better to fix things now than wind up paying for a nursing home later because we have painted ourselves into corners by refusing to take responsibility for our health.
I'm 67 and can still get up and down from the floor, sit cross-legged on the floor, climb the steps to the Washington Monument, walk five miles and lots of other things that I couldn't do before Egoscue. It's worth every minute I spend doing it.
