Another Book Seeking to Reignite Biblical Christianity
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich Being of the heritage of Watchman Nee("Normal Christian Church Life," "Glorious Church"), Witness Lee("Practical Expression of the Church," "Ground of Oneness") as well as T. Austin-Sparks', I found Viola's books to be basically a rehash and repackaging, and he does indeed acknowledge Stephen Kuang, a coworker of Nee's, as his mentor. Viola's emphasis upon the organic nature of the church requiring the function of all the members and the eschewing of the clergy-laity system is not really a new "reimagining" of the church. Witness Lee brought this aspect of Watchman Nee's vision of the church life to the United States back in the 1960's, although sadly what was raised up under Lee's ministry fell into the hands of institution. Don't get me wrong! I appreciate such fresh attempts to reignite the operation of "each one part" in the Body of Christ. I think, though, that what appeals to Americans (i.e., the "freeness" of it all) presents the "rub" when it comes to Biblical Christianity. Viola and others of the house-church movement struggle with the notion of elders being established in the church in each city as Paul instructed Titus and Timothy. This struggle with the Biblical pattern of church government is evident in Viola's writing, as he seeks a way around this predicament.... for in the church, there is government at the level of the city rather than the house, and to seek to be liberated from this government may mean that the blessedness Viola seeks, even if it can be found, cannot be kept.

One of the true acoustic gems of the seventies
Nick Drake is a guitar virtuoso, and his vocals add to the soothing quality of his work. His songs utilize chording and fingering that I never get tired listening to. Lyrics are soft, but when you catch them, they are clever and often profound. Some songs, like River Man, are simply sublime and all of them grow on me with each listen. Of his three released albums, this one is probably my favorite, although all are worth owning!

Great book, pungent ending
This book really had an impact on me at an important time in my life. The characters are more developed than in 'Hot Rod' by same author. The ending is almost too much, but left a deep impression on me. The car he worked on would have been beautiful to see!
