THE STORY THAT BRINGS YOUR FAMILY CLOSER
This film is a family unifier. It is a great story that just happens to be true.
The director, Randall Wallace, is a man of faith who does not shy away from what he knows to be the truth. The story reinforces the values you want your children to acquire. Honesty pay off; Honor thy father; nothing worth having is easy to get; stick to your guns if you know your right; Misfortune-- losing a coin toss-- could be the best thing that ever happened to you; put God in the mix and remarkable things happen.
The photography puts the viewer on the horse, on the track---the shots take your breath away while bringing your eyes those tears of joy.
The cast is perfect. Everyone looks just like you'd think they should look. Diane Lane is in, what I believe will prove to be, the role of her life. I don't like John Malkovich, however, here he is just right for the role of the experienced,respected trainor who loves horses & does his job with integrity.
And THE HORSE--"BIG RED".......PERFECT!!!
Our family has seen it now 3 times and each time it brings us closer. Worth every cent you'll pay and then some.

Cannot Recommend it More Highly
We have watched this 5 times. Gregory Peck did not personally like General MacArthur but studied the man and grew to admire and respect him and accepted the role.
He does an exceptional job in presenting to us who MacArthur really was.
We are so fortunate as Americans to have had this man as a leader who refused to accept defeat and had integrity to keep his word.
I cannot recommend this more highly to those who want an accurate portrayal of MacArthur.
Long before this film was released I was in the Philippines, It's a Catholic country. In the kitchen of the house I visited was a Crucifix hanging on the wall. Hanging next to the Crucifix was a picture of General MacArthur!! That's how much the people of that country respect him and Gregory Peck and the writers of this film are to be congratulated for capturing the essence of the man who saved their country.

We found after purchasing this set that Nancy Reagan used this in the White House!!
