I get more peace of mind buying an OEM part rather than a third-party knock-off, and this was clearly an original Whirlpool part in OEM packaging.
I purchased and installed this new OEM evaporator fan motor for a Whirlpool refrigerator (mine is a Kenmore, but it's the same refrigerator) to replace the old one which was running slowly. The slow motor was causing a frost/ice build up on the back wall of the freezer section. It took me a while to figure out that the old motor was running slowly, but after I tested the bi-metal thermostat and the defrost heater element, I was running out of suspects. It was then that I noticed the somewhat feeble flow of air from the old fan motor and guessed that it wasn't pulling its weight. I've replaced this motor before when it was completely dead, but the problem of a slow running motor was more difficult to notice. My guess was correct, and I no longer have a frost build-up problem.
