Great up grade for your guitar.
I've been looking for these for quite awhile for my 514 Taylor. They are a perfect fit for the large Grover tuning machine and look great.

Gibson Guitar Historic Spec '61 Truss Rod Cover Black PRTR-061
If you're as neurotic as I am about the look of your '61 Les Paul/SG, then this is an absolute necessity! It's an exact reproduction of the original truss cover and it is from the Gibson Custom Shop. You can probably find it cheaper, as well as more expensive too. For the look, it's worth it.

Very portable and convenient as opposed to regular guitar stands.
Very cool idea. It doesn't fit my Fender Tweed Deluxe cabinet (I put it on the handle - close enough) but works well with my other ones.
