Pioneer PL-990 Turntable

Pioneer PL-990 turntable excellent beginners model.

First things first, I am not an audiophile, I enjoy listening to music but do not analyse in any detail the intricacies of amplifiers, speakers and other equipment. I have a Marantz CR-610 tuner/amplifier/music streamer connected to a pair of Cambridge bookshelf speakers. This system is more than adequate for my needs. I decided to add a turntable to listen to music on vinyl and the Pioneer popped into the frame. Apparently this turntable has been around for a while and is popular with vinyl users on a budget. The ebay price was very attractive so I took the plunge. I can say that his turntable does not disappoint. It may be light but is very stylish, all the controls work well and there is even a strobe to adjust the turntable speed, this works very well. Set up is very simple and I was playing my first record within 10 mins of opening the box. A point to note here is that this turntable has a built in pre-amp which cannot be turned off so cannot be connected via a phono input. Sound quality to my ears is more than acceptable with no 'rumble' on good vinyl. The cartridge is fixed so cannot be upgraded if that is important to you. All in all a very nice, neat and competent package. I would recommend this to new users or returners to vinyl I don't think you will be disappointed.

Excellent OEM replacement lenses

I used these to replace a 20 year old set of rear lights on my Hymer A class motorhome. They were a perfect fit and came with a complete set of bulbs. They are much brighter as the old ones had become very cloudy and brittle. Just the thing before the MOT (which it passed)) Highly recommended.
