Great writer at the beginning of her artistic journey.
Emily St. John Mandel is a very talented artist - the Glass Hotel and Sea of Tranquility are brilliant shape-shifting novels that completely blur the genre lines. The Singers Gun is interesting, but doesn’t deliver at the end. Something went wrong in the last 50 pages… a conceptual bump?… who knows. What is interesting is that her next novel, which reportedly is in a first draft- includes a main character from The Singers Gun…. We will see.
