Heathkit SB1400/SB-1400-4
Though the design is somewhat dated, this transceiver still gets 4.5 reviews on eHam. Easy to operate, good performance, great starter radio for a new ham. The SB-1400 and its options/accessories is identical in almost all respects to the Yaesu FT-747GX and its options/accessories.
Differences include:
1) All crystal filters (AM/CW/SSB) are included as standard.
2) Front panel controls have been changed to separate the dual controls on the FT-747GX (See Pix)

Crimson Trace LG-415 Ruger LCR/X Lasergrip Sight
