Cat humour that isn't nauseatingly 'twee'.
I loved the Fat Freddy’s Cat cartoons (from the 'Freak Brothers' comics) in my misspent youth, so to get all of them, including ones I hadn’t seen before, in one coffee table/bookshelf friendly volume was a real treat.
Certainly the funniest animal cartoon character ever, and one that deserves to be known by more people.
Sadly, for a friend I recommended it to, the shop mine came from (the UK publisher's outlet) has sold out and all the other copies on line are extortionately priced… even second hand copies. Hopefully another print run will be commissioned by Knockabout Comix to bring this back to a price everyone can afford.
With the popularity of cat comedy - particularly on line - one would think it’s a no brainer for commercial success. Despite its humour, rooted firmly in the seventies, everyone I’ve shown it to, who wasn’t already familiar with the character, has loved the character and has seen elements of ‘cats they’ve known’ in his behaviour.
EXCELLENT… And very, very, funny.
