A much smoother pull even without the D spring.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich As far as I can tell, this is the original steel version of the trigger before Beretta cheap'd out and started using the current polymer/steel trigger that comes standard with the gun now. Although the polymer/steel trigger is functional, it's just not very smooth and you can feel the rubbing between the different materials as you squeeze through the travel arc. Wilson makes a very good steel "Short Reach" trigger as well, but I've found that trigger just doesn't reduce the travel to any noticeable degree, is a bit more expensive, and it tends to pinch my finger tip at the end of the travel arc point where the trigger breaks. None of these issues exist with this factory steel trigger. I already had D spring installed so I didn't need it, however I was grateful for the extra trigger return spring as mine popped out during disassembly and disappeared somewhere in the carpet.

Highly recommended if you also install the "D" hammer spring
This is a quality part. No debate here. I personally am not entirely crazy about the skeletonized look, but the styling is not too bad with this hammer. If you're NOT going to replace the hammer spring with the reduced weight "D" spring, then adding this hammer will be strictly cosmetic. You will not notice any difference in ignition time as it's already pretty fast when using the factory hammer spring and hammer. If you do opt to install the "D" spring however, then I highly recommend going with this lighter hammer as well. Those who install the "D" spring will notice right away (besides the benefit of a lighter DA pull), the hammer will take ever so slightly longer to strike, thereby reducing ignition time ever so slightly as well. Makes perfect sense since there's less force dropping the hammer now. 1911 shooters who have been replacing their mainsprings with reduced weight springs will know what I'm talking about here. The lighter the hammer however, the less force necessary to drive it home, thereby increasing the ignition time. In this case, the combination of using a reduced weight "D" hammer spring and skeletonized trigger will get you back to where you were before.

The best version of Red Nails.
The best overall reprinting of Barry Smith's rendition of Red Nails out there. There are other high end collected or "artist'" editions going for a higher price, but none provide the great combination of both large format and color. In regards to the coloring, this version was supposedly colored by Smith himself and it is extremely well rendered using the classic four color method on traditional newsprint. It provides just the right tone. Not the over saturated mess that the other modern reprintings are plagued with. Red Nails is Smith's best work in my opinion and MTE #4 is the best way to read it. Even better than the original black and white printing in Savage Tales 2 and 3.
