Not for gorehounds or jumpscare junkies…

I review indie horror and A Horrible Way to Die is a very well-made, well-directed (Adam Wingard, hardly a hack), atmospheric, slow burn psychological horror featuring strong, subtle performances by A.J. Bowen, Joe Swanberg and Amy Seimetz. It’s original, well-written and has a genuinely surprising twist ending. Low budget is not synonymous with poor quality; in fact, very often, the opposite is true and this is a great example of fine minimalist psychological horror. Not for puerile tastes; it’s grown up horror for true fans of complex, character-driven horror. Highly recommended.
