Good tool but use with care
Overall this is a good product when you need to rough cut a large log or beam, but there are some factors to keep in mind.
1. This is better than freehand, but not by a lot. It's still possible to get off square, especially on a deeper cut.
2. The blade camp could be deeper. It's difficult to place it without it interfering with the chain.
3. Check the tightness of the clamp screws frequently, and tighten them in turn to begin with. Make sure they're both tight before you start cutting. If one comes lose and the clamp moves, it'll dig into the chain and cause a mess.
