Trivia
Basically a trivia book, published when we were well past the time that trivia books contributed to our knowledge about baseball. There is one good essay, on pages 119-123, on the impact of walks and strikeouts on pitch counts. Not worth the price for just that (even though it only cost me $6).

Helpful introductory text
The content is not compelling (one of the questions Ebay asked me about it) but if you can get this at a good price it has value. I found out about it from a former colleague who is using the book in an organizational communication course unit on mediation. It is a textbook, not an academic work. For me, the best parts of the book are:
Chapter 4, entitled Basic Skills, which lays out a four-phase structure for a generic mediation session, and is very specific about communication behavioral functions conducive to a successful session, and
The beginning pages of the Appendix, which includes specific wordings for interacting with the participants and critical times in the session.

Only for the hardest core
This is a book for the hardest core of the hard core. Basically it is a description of how to write code for analyzing public data sets. I do not find it particularly helpful to me, as my own sabermetric projects consist mostly of writing about what the good data analysts (the ones who can use this book) learn. It is not the author's or book's fault that it is for a small minority of baseball fans; but the large majority should spend their money on something else.
