Legendary Disney Movie Meets Splendid DVD Release
Unless you have resided under a rock for the better part of your lives, you are no doubt familiar with the story of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. Splendid piece of literature. When Disney brought it to the big screen during the 30's it was met with tremendous success and praise. Today the grandeur still endures and today I must take my hat off to Disney for a tremendous DVD release--of course I'm referring to their 2001 release. Unlike the blue-ray release, this 2001 release looks and stays true to the original in every way, shape, and form. The prints are clean; but not over the top like you'll find in the majority of today's dvd releases. You still feel as though you are viewing Snow White as it was meant to be---believe me, I'm a harsh critic. I run by the old saying "if you can't do a job right don't do it at all!!" and I'm only 34, lol.
The special features are plentiful--hours and hours-- and the magic mirror is your guide. If you don't choose something fast the mirror spouts off humorous phrases like "Make up your mind, I don't have all eternity. Wait, yes I do!" lol You receive many documentaries, a virtual art work gallery tour set up in the castle (the art work covers 3 wings of the castle and I counted over (100??) pieces). Gawd!! The Disney of yesteryear sure could draw and didn't depend on computers to do it for them!!! You get bonus songs, missing or cut scenes, storyboards, poster and advertisement galleries, a virtual journey through The Snow White castle ride, Dopey's Mine Game--although it was easy, believe me, I don't play video games but I experienced great laughter and pleasure--the effects were amazing. Along with other special features, you also get a song sung by Barbara Streisand instead of a Disney tween star nobody's heard of nor cares for.
All in all, this is an example of a proper Disney DVD release--unlike today's efforts. So if you are a fan of classic Disney (a few other proper DVD releases are Alice In Wonderland: Unbirthday anniversary 2 disc) then I highly suggest you purchase this 2 disc masterpiece
