Off the beaten path in New England.
Focus on the quirky, regional ephemera and lifestyles of New England. Some of the persons or circumstances mentioned may no longer be current and operational( one person is deceased). The food section is fabulous.

Life in Germany after the Nazis.
Now generally known in the west. This shows the end of WWII in Germany and its aftermath. The civil population dealt with the absence of food, resources, and the retribution doled out by the Russians.

What to read before you visit Saharan Africa
This will give you some perspective on life in the Saharan region of Africa. Surely some elements have changed after 200 years; however, many remain the same. The ability of the body to adapt under dire circumstances is fascinating. Make sure you read this with a tall glass of iced water !
