Cheap and academically sound.
The copy of it that was sent to me is paperback, not hardback. I bought it from you because I had lost my copy of it. I originally started learning Arabic from it in 1977. It adopts a strictly academic, grammatical approach, but that appeals to me. I definitely learned the essential basics of written Arabic from it. It leaves out much of the modern vocabulary (e.g. it does not include the words for "car", "aeroplane" and "soldier"), but this can be learned later. All in all it provided me with a sound grounding in the language, and I later used Arabic professionally.
