Veritas Optical Centre Punch

Hi Guys, How did I manage without this! I had to fit some 5mm Stainless steel hinges which had counter sunk fixing holes, to some steel box section. If any of the holes are drilled slightly out you will be in trouble as you will know. So no room for error. I marked the hole position with a sharpie pen holding the hinges in place on the box section. Then used the Veritas. All twelve holes were spot on, in the past I would have guessed the centre on the sharpie dot and used an automatic centre punch and hopped I marked it correctly, not anymore! I even used it to position some steel brackets onto a wooded panel. Just one word of caution, you need to treat this device like the precision instrument it is, use it and place it back in its case. You do not want swarf and filings getting into the device. Would I recommend this device wholeheartedly yes, buy one now! Chris

Dewalt Cobalt Drills

If you are drilling steel box section for fabrication, they are simply the best drills you can get. I have purchase 6 individual drills, and now a further complete set. Each of the larger sizes also have a pilot tip which is excellent for locating the centre punch mark in the steel before you start drilling. Also don’t forget there step drills. One last thing, you must use a cutting oil, if you do, the drills will last.

good quality and easy to fit

I ordered this product to replace a an existing vent that had be in place for many years and had deteriorated to the point that mice were coming in. The unit arrived promptly as was of good quality, I re drilled and raw plugged the wall, I also added a small steel mesh, which was just placed behind the moving slats, see attached pictures. This mesh would stop any more mice getting in, and facilitate cleaning by just lifting it out, once or twice a year. I would recommend this product.
