Huge improvement in safety compared to traditional stirrup
I ride a very tall and fairly nervous mare in a western saddle. My foot once became trapped in the stirrup while dismounting. Luckily I was unhurt but I bought these immediately and had them shipped from US to UK. So much better than riding in a solid stirrup. The mechanism tips your foot right out in an emergency. I use them without the wraparound rubber tread as the mechanism can release much more easily. I plan to stick a rubber pad onto the flat surface to improve grip without impeding the release. Otherwise they are ideal. Solid and confidence inspiring. Definitely one of the best things I have bought this year.
