The stock housing transfer so much torque and power on the 8s xmaxx. Its no wonder the plastic housing will start to come apart. It will be subtle but you will start damaging pinions and spurs every time you go out and you'll try everything to make it stop. but if its not your mesh setting its probably this item. Replace with the metal one add some loctite to the screws and your issues should be greatly reduced. I cant say you'll never strip a gear again but this will certainly help. Id probably get a new rubber bumper for the inside of the housing as well as the slack in the stock one destroys the elastomeric thingie.
