This is the best in the whole lineup!
I'm not a guy that rates everything 5 stars. Matter of fact, if it meets expectations, it gets a 4.
This unit meets my basic guidelines.
1. It's unobtrusive. Much smaller than similar units.
2. It's effective. It moves a lot of air, and it's easier to breathe when it's on.
3. It's not excessive costly to run, or to buy.
It's a good basic unit for around $100
What reading descriptions and reviews don't tell you most of the time, is that when it's laid on it's side, it's a quiet, reliable personal fan that filters the air.
I like having a fan on when I sleep, for some air movement and white noise.
This is the ultimate bedside fan, with a programmable timer, and easy to use remote.
The nice thing is that it does the work of a much bigger unit because you can just point the thing at your pillow and run it on low. That way, you sleep in a bubble of clean air.
You get a higher quality of sleep, because you aren't congested while you're sleeping.
Other units try (Rather unsuccessfully) to clean the air in the whole room. This unit, when used as a bedside fan, just cleans the air that blows on your pillow. All I know is, the air that I breathe is much cleaner than trying to clean the whole room with a small unit.
Did I mention the handy remote?
I have had many purifiers over the years, and this one has been the most effective at particulate filtration while I sleep.
I bought 4 of these units so far, and they all still are working 100%.
They work great as fans in the living room, too.
I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Very good for bedside

I use it as a bedside fan, (I previously slept with a fan on low.) it not only moves the air, but filters it, makes white noise to halp me sleep, and also comes with a remote for a tactile interface in the dark. Simply velcro the remote in a convenient but out of the way place.
Point it at your pillow and let it run on low 24/7, and you'll be accomplishing several things. It reduces the dust mites in your pillow, by not allowing the dust to settle on it, and by keeping it dry. It also does the work of a big unit, as you sleep in a bubble of clean air without having to run a much bigger unit to clean the air in your whole bedroom, or the whole house.
It will clean the air in your bedroom somewhat, but it's more important to be be breathing clean air, and pointing a effective, but small unit at you as you sleep is the most cost effective way to accomplish that task.
After looking around, ebay is the best place to get a new 17005 for the best price.
I have 2, 1 in bedroom, and 1 in the living room.
I also purchased one for my dad, and he loves it, as well.
Use this in place of a fan, and enjoy cleaner air.
The remote works, and has 4 big buttons.
The unit is programmable, and I tried programming it to speed up right before my alarm clock goes off, but it doesn't wake me up, so I kinda gave up on that idea.
I have used dozens of purifiers over the years, and this one is the most versatile and provides the most bang for your buck.
The only improvement I would ask for is an optional vent control like the dash vents on your car, or a nice A/C unit, so you could control the direction of the air without moving the whole unit.
This unit is quiet on low, but noisy on high.
Keep in mind, the only way for effective filtration is to move a lot of air through the filter, the more-the better.
Mine spend 75% of their life on low, and the remaining time on medium.

Great for a small to mid-size bedroom
Very quiet because it uses the filter as a muffler, and the blower motor housing is made from styrofoam.
I don't have a manual, but I cut a piece of of the carbon pre-filter to go on the outside of the filter, then folded it in half than wrapped it around the plastic pre-filter housing on the bottom.
The pre-filter could have been designed better, but if you double it up it works ok. If you sell it on ebay, pack it good because the motor housing is very fragile.
It intakes from the bottom, and exhausts from the filter, the dirt gets trapped inside the filter, so make double sure you have the pre-filter working, because you can't just wrap the pre-filter around it and expect it to help. (It does help sorb odors.) It's much quieter than the venerable 11520 round honeywell, and doesn't stir up as much dust.
It's not good for rooms with tall ceilings, or for extremely dusty conditions where a newer honeywell would work better.
But for a small bedroom, it's perfect.
I got mine from ebay for $41.50 shipped, and put new hepa and pre filters in it.
Another reason it's good for the bedroom: the diffused exhaust air doesn't dry out your eyes when you sleep, my 11520 dried out my nose and eyes really bad.
Don't pay more than $50 shipped, get new filters for it immediately, and give it a chance, it might just grow on you.
