I am no Civil War buff but I really liked this book
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich A surprisingly enjoyable biography, and revelatory to someone who was taught little about Grant except that he was an undistinguished president and a drinker, both wrong. He was in fact a sober, serious and ethical man who wrote fabulous letters to his wife during the Civil War. I never thought I would enjoy battle descriptions so much but they were so well mapped and explained. Grant was an interesting man and supporter of freed slaves.
