Problems with radio interference

For some reason, when I use the connector, with the original cable from my Tomtom or with the new cable, it interferes with the radio in my car. I have ended up using the old connector again, but it does seem to make a tighter connection with the new cable than the old connector (this was the reason for buying the new one, the connector and cable kept coming apart). So I am keeping the new connector as a backup - it just means I cannot listen to the car radio while I am using it.
