Read this book if you like to laugh out loud.
This well-written book is extremely funny. The author's sense of timing made me laugh out loud frequently. The subject matter will not appeal to everyone, especially if you are vegan or vegetarian. It is the story of a man who lives in Galicia where meat is a very prominent part of the diet. The man gives himself a year to eat a lot of pig meat, hence the title. In parts it is rather graphic but in only one part towards the end is it perhaps a little too difficult for some people. Just turn the page!.
A lot of the book is simply about the history of Galicia. It zings along and I learnt such a lot.

An unusual evocative book
This book is beautifully illustrated with evocative pictures of the fashions of the decades. I am lucky to have found a copy as I think it is now out of print.
