Turboprop commuters fills a void in commercial aviation coverage.
What a collection of lens art this book is. Turboprop commuter aircraft in flight, on the tarmac, exterior from every angle, the cabin, the flight deck, it's all here. Every page has full color photos and every photo has it's own informative caption. As the book is an Osprey Publication product it is not as large as a coffee table book and that is a shame as a larger format would do justice to the fine photography. And you will not find much in the way of technical dissertation. A portion of a single page is dedicated to specifications of all of the aircraft featured. That being said I am not disappointed with my purchase and I am glad I made this book a part of my library .

This is a photo archive collection.
This is a book of period archival photography with the original captions providing the only text, aside from the introduction. No specifications. No statistics. No color, all black and white. I am good with it. Book lets you get a glimpse of the Farmall Super Models at the time when America needed new and improved in the post WWII days, even if they weren't really new models in the truest sense. Don't expect information, just old black and whites, and you will be happy. If you want statistics and detailed history buy something else.

An ebay search for Destroyer Escorts in the book category will offer quite a few choices. Warship Data WWII Destroyer Escorts seemed to be a good compromise to me in terms of cost versus content. An overview is offered as an introduction to the Destroyer Escort, followed by an overview of each class of ships produced. Enough information is included: period photos and scale drawings, lists of ships names, builder location, dates of build, and a standard paint scheme fold out page, that most any of us can be pleased enough to use this information as provided, or as the beginning of further research. A sobering section lists the ships damaged or lost and the sad tally of lives claimed.
