Multipurpose Slant Shank Pressor Foot
When sewing zigzag with a very short stitch length, the stitches will lie together in a tight and almost parallel orientation. The appearance is a solid band of thread and is called a satin stitch. When executed well, the effect is stunningly beautiful.
To work, the feed dogs must pull the material through at just the right rate and be very consistent.
If the feed is inconsistent or stops, a pile of thread builds up very quickly, ruinng the stitch, and creating a mess that will have to be cut out.
This foot is designed to let the rows of stitches pass under the presser foot without touching the metal foot. This removes a major source of difficulty that commonly affects the satin stitch. In the task the foot performs quite well.

Thread Tension Guage
The gauge requires some setup out of the box. The instructions were not very helpful at first, but did the job when I finally figured them out.
One thing that I did that really made a difference, was to calibrate the gauge during setup. I made a small bag of inconsequential weight and filled it with twenty US Nickles (exactly 100 grams). I adjusted the guage to read 100 while lifting the Nickles.
Then I calibrated both the upper and lower thread tensions (130 grams and 30 grams respectively) on my two sewing machines. It made a HUGE difference in well they sewed. I wish I had bought a gauge years ago.
