Good value

These are thinner than more expensive boots, but that is good for me because I need to use them over 90° spark plug wire boots on my application and I need the added flexibility to keep them from contacting my headers.

Plan on handwork if your trans isn't a 47re, 47rh, or 48re...

Sonnax doesn't advertise that this is not a direct fit into anything but a 47re, 47rh, or 48re style transmission out of the box, until you cut and grind the tip off of it at the smallest groove. All it says is that it can be "configured to work" with the rest, and you don't know what that means until you open up the instructions. Not a direct fit for my 42re out of the box, 3 stars for advertising it as one. I don't like surprises.

Touted as a direct replacement to plastic piston in 42re... makes large diameter spring useless!

Sonnax advertises this accumulator piston like it is a direct replacement for the original plastic piston. In my 42re it is not. It effectively deletes the wider diameter spring that sits below it, and the piston will be able to contact the seat on the top of the valve body since it is taller than the original plastic piston in this area. I am going to use it in my fresh rebuild because of the other good reviews and the improved sealing, but I am not keen on it for this reason.
