Scary movie
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich The concept of the movie is that the human race is fast outpacing the capacity of the earth's resources to sustain the growing population. To a biologist this should be a wake-up call. The text is even more scary. The concept of a carrying capacity for the earth is not new and the political and economic engines that run the decisions of this plant are not geared to understand the crash that is coming.

The Pilgrims
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich I enjoyed this version of the famous trial of one of the early European settlers in what they called the "New World". I would also recommend the A&E production titled "The Mayflower" for a little bit different take of that early adventure. And, as long as I'm on the subject, I also recommend Charles C. Mann's two books "1491" and "1493" as well as Nathaniel Philbrick's book "Mayflower". The movies focus on the actual experience of the Pilgrims (and the "strangers" that were half of the group) while the books give a more rounded idea of what happened before and after the arrival of the Mayflower which is important to put the experience into context.

Two different views from two different scientists on how the world is changing.
Two different views from two different scientists on how the world is changing. One is predicting the end of known civilization (the prophet) and the other is saying that man can work out of his predicament (the wizard). Two very different views on how the world will survive (or not) the influence of homo sapiens.
