Worth a listen, at least.
This one is the most interesting recording made of this piece as the soloist 'Punk Violinist' (as he called himself back then) Nigel Kennedy is at the controls of this performance and you are in for an interesting ride! It is a very different interpretation and is well worth the listen. The cadenzas are his own works (so are worth a listen if you are musically adapt to this sort of thing). Personally, not my favourite performance, yet his Brahms's v/c is beyond approach!

Through the looking glass, but looking back onto the author and his life.
With the 150th Anniversary of the first edition of 'Alice in Wonderland' slowly approaching, anyone who still gets enjoyment from reading (and re-reading) this book, will enjoy this documentary on the life of Charles Ludwidge Dodgson, better known to all as the author 'Lewis Carroll', This DVD documentary covers almost everything you need to know about him, his family, his early life, his life at Rugby School, and then onto Oxford, and how he interacted with the people and characters of Oxford. This documentary also gives an insight into the world of both the author and as an experimental photographer in the 1860's of England. The documentary does not hold any bias towards Dodgson, but puts the facts first and reminds us of how this world has changed since Queen Victoria came to the throne, Railways scarred the landscape of England and Photography became a new medium of communication and wonderment for all to behold, and on the fact that 'Alice in Wonderland' was the first book written that did not 'talk down' to children, but encouraged them to use their imagination to solve simple problems, and laugh at some childish puns, in the book. Many books, magazine articles, and reading guides have been written about Dodgson / Carroll, but this is one of only a few DVD's that are available that delves into the life of this complex, and imaginative, man, who had so many 'irons in the fire' with his mathematics lectureship, his deaconship within the church, seven unmarried sisters (whom he cared for) and his authorship of books on many subjects. The documentary is very well resourced and refers to many text books published about him over the years from 1899 to today.

Nicole Kidman at her best as Nicole Kidman. Brilliant film for any fan.
As a avid Nicole Kidman fan from the mid-eighties, this film is an essential part of any collection of her much and varied work. This is a film written for Nicole Kidman with Nicole Kidman in mind (or in other words, she is allowed to be herself and not portray a particular character). Nicole Kidman transpires to have her husband murdered, with the aid from a younger, impressionable man, as an attempt to improve her career in media (Television). Based on a real event.
