Excellent bike with continental features
For some reason it is virtually impossible to find a bike in England with the bike features that I value for my children:
- Shimano Nexus hub gears
- Coasting brakes
This all comes in a package which is dead easy to assemble (instal pedals, adjust steering), fully equipped with hub dynamo, LED lights, luggage rack, mud guards and road tyres with some off-road capability. My son also happens to love the colour, which was lucky as that seemed to be the only colour available ;)
It is not the lightest bike in the world but ok for the equipment level at about 14 kg or so. Our biggest worry was what frame to choose for our boy of 10 and a half years. In the end we choose the 50 cm frame and it worked out perfectly, maybe helped by his relatively long legs. He has to stretch a bit but can get on and off by himself, and I figure he will quickly grow into it as they grow so quickly at this age. This means he can keep this bike for many years!
The smaller 38 cm frame would have been much too small.
We also looked at the PUKY bikes but they do not sell any with 26" wheels.
Delivery was quick and they called (from Germany) and checked what would be a good time to deliver and then stuck to it.
All in all we are very happy with the bike so far!

Good value, but follow instructions

Beware of the UV sealant and don’t do what I did, applying it at the end of the day. The cold night which followed (6 degrees) seemed to have frozen the sealant so next day half the headlight had an opaque white surface.
So I had to do it all again but make sure to apply the sealant when there was plenty of sunlight left in the day so it could cure properly. Then it came out fine ;)
